Use ONLY on a supply between 216 - 253 volts AC.

The 400W rating relates to the maximum load the dimmer can take. To work out your load simply add the wattage of all bulbs run off the switch. For candle type bulbs the maximum load is 300W and for mains voltage halogen 250W.
For optimum energy saving it is recommended that the minimum load for any dimmer should be 100W, this way you will save more energy and still be able to dim the lights down to the level to require
